Crumbs

Crumbs are interesting. How do you define a crumb? There is no size requirement, is there? If you have a loaf of bread, it is not a crumb in itself. If you pull some of it off, it’s a piece or a slice or a crust or some other unit of bread. I think in order to qualify as a crumb, it has to be accidental. It has to fall off during the cutting or eating process. This applies to all foods. There are no steak crumbs because you generally don’t lose pieces of steak while you cut or eat it.

And what if you have a really big crumb, and then you step on it? You don’t have a broken crumb. You have many crumbs. It defies physics. It’s a good thing crumbs are not official currency or inflation would be out of control.
